They spend most of their days alone in the high peaks of the mountains, allowing them the solitude they seek, coming down only in the summer to hunt. A hunting mountain giant can devastate a region as they seek enough food for the year to come, and all living creatures are quite literally fair game, even their hill giant cousins. They keep their food preserved in cold caves high in the peaks where they live.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They mate infrequently, perhaps only once a century if my calculations are correct, so a mountain giant might only mate two to three times in its 300 year lifespan. Preferring solitude above all other things, the mating couple goes their separate ways after they consort, with the female giant raising the offspring. The rate of infanticide in mountain giants is high\u2014they are as likely to be killed by their own mother in a fit of temper as they are another mountain giant for food\u2014 with only half surviving to adolescence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A mountain giant shows great resistance to magic, which may stem from their gray, stone-like skin. If the mountain giant wins, the target is hurled up to 20\u2019 and falls prone. If it strikes a solid object, it suffers an additional 1d6 damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A mountain giant can use Titanic against creatures as large as SIZ 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mountain Born<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ceninvar moves across mountains as naturally as a human walks a road. Loose stone, steep slopes, snow, and ordinary mountainous terrain do not increase its movement cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also gains a +20% bonus to Heroic Actions made to resist being knocked prone, pushed, or otherwise forcibly moved while standing upon natural stone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Stoneblood<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The gray flesh of a mountain giant is extraordinarily dense, becoming increasingly stone-like as the giant ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This gives the mountain giant AV 10 and 120 HP, substantially more durability than its characteristics alone would normally provide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the Ceninvar possesses an innate resistance to magic. It gains +20% to saves against spells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Avalanche<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A mountain giant can turn the landscape itself into a weapon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When standing upon natural stone, the giant may use its action to stomp, strike the ground, or tear loose part of the mountainside. Creatures within 20\u2019 must make a Difficult DEX check. On a failure, a creature suffers 3d6+12 damage, is knocked prone, and becomes partially buried beneath rock and debris. On a success, it suffers half damage and remains standing. A buried creature must use an action and succeed at a STR check to free itself. Another creature may attempt the check to dig it free. The affected area becomes difficult terrain until cleared. Avalanche may be used once per combat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Living Mountain<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ceninvar&#8217;s connection to stone runs deeper than its physical appearance. A mountain giant that remains completely motionless against a natural rock face for at least 1 minute becomes extremely difficult to distinguish from the surrounding stone. Its Hide increases to 75% while it remains motionless. This isn&#8217;t magical invisibility\u2014the giant simply resembles an enormous weathered outcropping until twenty-two feet of \u201cmountain\u201d suddenly stands up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Giant Magic Resistance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mountain giant&#8217;s magical resistance comes from its connection to the ancient stone of the world rather than learned spellcraft. In addition to Stoneblood, it takes half damage from Earth magic and gains a +20% bonus to saves against Earth magic that would move, reshape, or restrain it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Treasure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wandering Treasure:<\/strong> The giant carries surprisingly little conventional wealth: 300 gp in coins taken from travelers, an enormous uncut ruby worth 500 gp, raw gold ore worth 400 gp, and a large natural crystal worth 300 gp. <strong>Total Value: 1,500 gp.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Lair Treasure:<\/strong> 1,500 gp in coins and valuables taken from previous victims, uncut gemstones worth 2,000 gp, precious ore worth 1,500 gp, abandoned expedition equipment worth 500 gp, and an exceptional natural crystal formation worth approximately 2,500 gp if it can somehow be extracted and transported. <strong>Total Value: approximately 8,000 gp.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mountain Giant (Ceninvar) Lairs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>1d10<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Lair<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>1<\/td><td><strong>Mountain Cave:<\/strong> A tremendous natural cavern lies near the peak, its entrance easily mistaken for a dark cleft in the mountain.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>2<\/td><td><strong>High Valley:<\/strong> An isolated valley surrounded by sheer peaks serves as the Ceninvar&#8217;s home and hunting ground. Reaching it without climbing is nearly impossible.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>3<\/td><td><strong>Cliff Dwelling:<\/strong> The lair is carved into a sheer cliff thousands of feet above the valley. The Ceninvar simply climbs to its entrance.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>4<\/td><td><strong>Stone Forest:<\/strong> Enormous natural pillars of rock surround the lair. When motionless among them, the giant is almost impossible to distinguish from the formations.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>5<\/td><td><strong>Frozen Peak:<\/strong> The Ceninvar inhabits caves near the summit of a permanently snow-covered mountain, storing entire carcasses in chambers of ice.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>6<\/td><td><strong>Collapsed Dworven Hold:<\/strong> The giant occupies the shattered upper levels of an ancient dworven complex. Most entrances are buried beneath thousands of tons of stone.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>7<\/td><td><strong>Boulder Field:<\/strong> The lair lies beyond a vast field of enormous fallen stones. What is difficult terrain for adventurers is an ordinary pathway for the giant.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>8<\/td><td><strong>Hidden Pass:<\/strong> The Ceninvar controls the only passage through a mountain range. Travelers may unknowingly cross directly through its territory.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>9<\/td><td><strong>Hollow Mountain:<\/strong> A crack opens into an immense internal cavern containing underground lakes, mineral deposits, and chambers large enough for the giant to wander freely.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>10<\/td><td><strong>Sleeping Mountain:<\/strong> There is no conventional lair. The Ceninvar sleeps beneath an overhanging cliff or against a rock face, surrounded by possessions accumulated over centuries.
