You summon a shimmering shield that floats in front of you or is attached to your arm. It weights nothing and does not hinder spellcasting in any way. The magical shield gives you +2 AV and blocks any Mage Bolts directed at you. The shield has a total of 25 hp. Each additional mana doubles the duration and HP, but the AV is always 2. You may also charge the shield with elemental energy for 1 mana, giving bonuses based on the elemental focus you choose.

Any creature striking you with its body or a handheld weapon deals normal damage, but at the same time the attacker takes 1d6+1 points of elemental damage. Creatures wielding weapons with reach are not subject to this damage if they attack you.

The special powers of each version are as follows:

Fire Shield

The flames are warm to the touch. You take only half damage from ice-based attacks. You cast light for 30 ft. Successful attacks from water or ice-based attacks cut the remaining duration in half.

Cold Shield

You take only half damage from fire-based attacks. Successful attacks from air-based or fire-based attacks cut the remaining duration in half.

Water Shield

You take only half damage from fire, acid, and earth-based attacks. Successful attacks from air-based attacks cut the remaining duration in half.

Electric Shield

You take only half damage from air and earth-based attacks. Successful attacks from water-based attacks cut the remaining duration in half.

Earth Shield

You take only half damage from fire-based attacks. Successful attacks from air-based attacks cut the remaining duration in half.

Air Shield

You take only half damage from air and electrical-based attacks. Successful attacks from earth-based attacks cut the remaining duration in half.

Spellcraft failure: The spell fizzles, and mana is lost.
