Goblins

Goblins are a varied folk, and they have lived in Athleles for as long as there have been records. The goblin’s belief is that they were formed in a dark outer realm by some of the old gods to bring chaos.

A small creature looks at you through marble-like eyes. Its skin is an unhealthy pale color of something that sees little sun, and its hair and nails are yellow. Its leather armor smells of dead animals and old dirt. It raises a wickedly notched blade menacingly. 

Goblins may be one of the most despised beings in Atheles. Elflings, known for their nonviolence and happy demeanor, turn to assault whenever they encounter goblins. Goblins are petty, vengeful, torturing little creatures who enjoy the pain of others. If there is a cause which can hurt others, goblins will flock to it like flies to dung. It is the sages of the towers who debate what made them this way, but for hunters, it is often just part of the job to clean out areas infested with the hateful things.

Many a young adventurer’s first contract is to root out the goblins from some new lair, though some of those young explorers often end up as broken skeletons in those same lairs.

Goblin grabbers are trained in evening the odds between goblins and their often taller enemies. They use their hooked swords to try and trip their oppenents. Once they are on the ground, the excle at grappling and keeping them pinned.

Spider Sac Arrows

Goblins can use special arrows that replace the standard arrowhead with a large spider sac. Upon a successful ranged attack, these arrows deal 1 point of damage and unleash a swarm of spiderlings upon the target. Brushing off the spiders requires a Standard Action to completely remove the spiderlings and sac. Doing so disperses the swarm.
If a character attempts to perform any action prior to wiping off the spiders, the task becomes difficult. The spider swarm deals an automatic 1 point of damage to any creature whose space it occupies at the end of their move, with no attack roll needed.
