Troll

The common troll is a varied creature, ranging from 8 feet to 15 feet tall. The elves say the trolls were brought to these lands by the gods to fight in their wars. They do make tough adversaries. Their naturally fast being and strength make them formidable in combat, and their aggression towards most creatures, including each other, makes them a terror to encounter. They also exhibit a strong appetite. A constant intake of food helps them regenerate wounds and build their powerful muscles.

They have no communities, languages, or cultures. They are solitary creatures, only coming together for mating, and often, only one survives that. The females tend to be larger and more muscular, as well as more territorial and aggressive.

The only sure way to kill a troll is to burn its head and spinal cord and spread its ashes into the sun.

Raking Grip

If both Claw attacks hit the same target, the troll may immediately attempt to Grapple as a Free Action. The troll and target make an opposed Heroic Action. If the troll wins, the target is grappled.

On a subsequent turn while maintaining the grapple, the troll may use a Standard Action to rake and tear the victim for 2d6+dm damage without making an attack roll. The victim may attempt an opposed Heroic Action to escape.

Regeneration

At the start of its turn, a troll regenerates 1d6 HP.

Damage caused by acid or fire cannot be regenerated. A troll reduced to 0 HP is incapacitated but may continue to regenerate unless its head and spinal cord are destroyed with acid or fire.

A troll can regrow a severed body part in 3d6 days. A severed limb can instead be reattached by holding it against the stump for 10 seconds.

Dark Vision

Trolls can see using only the faintest light source, extending their vision to three times the distance of the light source, up to 60’.

Sunlight

Direct sunlight causes a troll’s flesh to rapidly calcify. After 1 minute of continuous exposure to direct sunlight, the troll is irreversibly transformed into stone.

Trollsbane

Trollsbane is a delicate swamp herb with a lavender scent. It is harmless to most creatures but toxic to trolls.

A troll that ingests Trollsbane or is injured by a weapon coated with it suffers 2d6 damage. This damage cannot be regenerated.

Reagents & Remnants

Troll Blood (Reagent)
