A wisp of fluttering light is all that can be seen on the material plane, but in the In-Between, the apparition retains its form from its birth . . . whatever that may be.
An apparition has been driven completely insane by its time trapped in the In-Between. I first ran into one in the farms outside of Fort Deadrick. Farmers had been found drained of life, lifeless husks littered haphazardly throughout their village during one of their local festivals. On my approach, I was attacked by a spectral creature—nothing more than a shimmering bit of mist in the fading light of day. My normal blades did no good, but a silver dagger caused it harm. It escaped our first encounter, but I tracked it to an ancient stone ring in the nearby woods. There, we battled until it fell, its deathly light stricken from our world.
