Nightcat

Nightcats are strange creatures, and I say that from a close, personal love of the creatures. Though I rate them as having the intelligence of an animal, often times I am not so sure they might be much smarter.  For 10 years now my closest companion has been one of these quirky felines, and he has been both a fearless companion and a ball of trouble.

I would venture to say they have a relation to the fey of Atheles, as there seems to be something a little “out of this world” about them.

They are about a foot and a half tall at the shoulders, and a little less than three feet from nose to the end of their tufted tail.

For those who travel this perilous world, I can recommend no greater road companion.

Pounce

A nightcat may use a Full Round Action to leap up to 20’ and make two Claw attacks against a single target.

If either Claw successfully hits, the nightcat may immediately attempt to Grab the target.

Nightstep

At night, a nightcat can seemingly disappear into the darkness and emerge from another shadow.

As its Move Action, a nightcat may teleport up to 40’ to a location it can see. Both the nightcat’s starting position and destination must be in darkness or dim light.

Nightstep makes no sound and does not provoke reactions caused by moving through the intervening space.

A nightcat cannot use Nightstep while in bright light or direct sunlight.

Grab

When a Claw attack that also has Grab successfully hits, the nightcat and defender make an opposed Heroic Action. If the defender loses, they become grappled.

The grappled creature must succeed at an opposed Heroic Action during its turn to escape.

Scent

A nightcat can detect creatures within 30’ by scent, even if they are hidden or invisible. It may make an Easy Spot check to detect nearby creatures by scent.

Dark Vision

Nightcats can see clearly in low-light conditions up to 60’.
