Kowal Water Authority
Kowal has a group that specializes in keeping the water clean. They run water through sand filters before it is piped to fountains and “wells”, as well as adding “purifying salts”. The alchemists of the Authority hold their secrets close.
They also run the GMI (Gross Matter Interception) machines at the end of each sewer run. This captures solid waste, corpses, cloth, hairs etc and filters it out. People call them the Churns. The “city manure” that comes from this is sold to poorer farmers.
The churns are operated by prisoners or those who can not find work elsewhere.
The Empire is very interested in this, and have started working on their own versions in other cities.
